Jesus said, "Do
this, in remembrance of Me"
Luke 22:19
Our Lord, our God, does not
live within space and time, as we know it. He is not bound by our
rules, our laws, and He has none of our limitations. When and how
we respond, is less important, as we understand that time and space are
nothing to Him. When we receive the Son, we are – in Him,
for all eternity.
He revealed to His prophet
(Isaiah 40:12) that to God, that the space-time continuum of our
universe is like a "span" (or half-cubit,
the distance across a man’s hand). The vastness of outer space
(though large to us) is small to Him. To Almighty God, "1000
years is like a day, and a day is like 1000 years" (Psalm 90:4, 2
Peter 3:8). Time, so important to us, is nothing to our Lord.
(Billions of light years are just a moment).
Jesus Christ "died
for all" (2 Corinthians 5:15), and He performed this act for us,
while we were still his enemies ("sinners"
- Romans 5:8). The "saved", who are rescued by Him, will include
people "out of every tribe and tongue and people
and nation" (Revelation 4:9), indicating His cross has made
provision for all people of all time. His forgiveness reaches
across time, and into the hearts of men. We don’t have to fully
understand - we merely receive.
There is no time or space
limitation for those who are in Him, and therefore you and I are
together, right now, partaking as one, in Him.
In the act of communion, our
God reminds us, "I died for you."
Our taking of the bread (which represents His body, given for us), and
the liquid (which represents His blood, shed for you and me), is a
response that says, "We receive You."
It is not when you
receive that is important, for there is no time, in eternity, in the
presence of God. When you receive, when I receive, it is all one,
as we are one, in Him.
Break a cracker, or tear off
a piece of bread, and hold it for a moment. If you are with
someone, share with them, as well. If you cannot do the breaking,
have someone break it for you. If you cannot do it, and are alone,
then just receive Him in your heart. (The reality is in the
heart).
Lord, bless these elements
for our use, and let us see the reality of Christ, in them.
(Let us partake together).
Heavenly Father, we receive
the body of our Lord Jesus, broken for us.
Lord, we receive You now.
Take us, Lord, for we are Yours. Forgive us our sins, Lord, and
completely fill our lives. Touch us with Your love, and fill us
with Your Spirit. In Jesus Name. Amen.
Now, pour yourself some wine.
If wine is not right for you; pour some grape juice. If you don’t
have grape juice, use water (Jesus referred to the work of God in our
lives as "living water" by which we are
refreshed and made new - John 4:10-14). If you cannot partake,
then just receive Him in your heart.
Just as Jesus said "Take,
eat, this is My Body" (Matthew 26:26), He also commanded, for the
cup, "Drink from it, all of you" (Matthew
26:27).
(Let us partake together).
Please join with me:
I receive
You, Lord Jesus, for You gave Your life for me. I thank You,
Father, that Jesus died in my place, and in Him, I am acceptable in Your
Sight. I receive You, my Savior, and give you my life - Your Life
for mine. I am Yours, Lord, and hallelujah, You are mine. I
love You, my Lord. In Jesus Name. Amen.
